Limon argues that stand-up is an artform best defined by its fascination with the abject, Julia Kristeva’s term for those aspects of oneself… More >>

Why is it that they try there hand at stand up comedy when they are absolutely horrible at it? do they not want to act anymore? or what?

I’m an aspiring stand-up comic in my early twenties. I only started performing last month at comedy clubs in downtown Toronto. At the moment stand-up is just a hobby but if I continue to get good feedback I might start taking it more seriuously. How do I go about making a name for myself on the comedy circuit. Do I attend the same club and keep coming back with different material or should a frequent many clubs with the same material? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

How can you start in stand-up comedy?

So I’m trying to get into stand-up comedy. I live in Las Vegas I know how to perform a set and all that good stuff. I have some material, I just don’t know where and how I can a place to perform it.

Stand-Up Comedy: The Book
